Godalming G will be sitting proudly at the top of the Third Division after another resounding victory, this against near rivals, College Hill D, 8-2. Jammers Wyncoll led the way with a full house whilst Hugh McKee and Paul Rumble chipped in with braces both succumbing to Derek Hubbard. Closest rivals, Woking LTC C, slipped to a 7-3 reverse against Ash C for whom Sandy Simpson was unbeaten. Margaret Thornton alson won twice for Ash as did Mike Frean for Woking. Cody B also won 7-3, this against Godalming J. Stuart Stone and Bob Fenner won all their singles for Cody. Godalming H will be grateful to have encountered a two-man Abinger as they also recorded a 7-3 win. Jim Faulkner won all the points for Abinger.
In the Second Division Godalming F relighted their promotion campaign with a 7-3 defeat of their E squad. Yet again Gordon Grover was unbeaten with Danny McGranaghan winning twice for the F team, as did Carsten Horne for the E squad. Merrow E slipped in their quest for promotion with two 6-4 defeats against Bramley C and Cranleigh A. In the Bramley match Geoff Nevitt was unbeaten for Bramley whilst Trevor Free and Ce Guo bagged braces for Merrow. In the later Cranleigh match Mark Lockyer proved the star for Cranleigh with a full house whilst Angela Coventry chipped in with a duo. Paul Farrant won twice for Merrow. Aftermath C just got the better of Bramley B 6-4 but the star performer of the evening was Bramley’s Linda Makepeace. Dave Wilson and Martin Strutt each won twice for Aftermath.
In the First Division the exceptional result was Ash B’s mauling of their A team. In an 8-2 success both Martin Gilbey and Alan Gess were unbeatable. College Hill B will be relieved to record an 8-2 success over Aftermath B. Adrian Sharp picked up a full house whilst Adrian Mitchell and Brian Smithers both won twice apiece. More wins like this are required to move the Brook outfit out of the relegation zone. Woking LTC A and Cody A shared the spoils with John Koenigsberger picking up all three for Woking who blooded 13 year-old Jacob Chew. Paul Shakespeare and Kin Chan each won twice for Cody.
