This week, in the Guildford Table Tennis League, saw Godalming A cement their new found position as the Premier side, completing the double in the Percy Lawes Cup defeating nearest rivals Burymead B 5-0. There was just a moment in the match when Richard Tanner held three match points against Laws, but failed to close it out and thus really ended the Burymead challenge. Bravo! Adam Laws, Federico Viterbo and Rob Pountney.
Further mayhem ensued when Godalming beat Burymead in the league 9-1 to break an unprecedented 200 points- a league record!
Viterbo had a particularly good week only losing the men’s final of the Surrey closed to Olympic Ace Darius Knight.
The latest information from Division Three is that with one match to play it looks like a College Hill bonanza with College D likely Champions with the E side also going up. Steve Clement, Robert Klush, Peter Caudrey, Stephen Kamphansen and Peter Norman all contributed.
In Division One College B got a good draw against second in the table Merrow E. Four of the matches went to five sets and three of these at deuce.
The Handicap Cup is reaching its final stages as Merrow G cruised through against Godalming D 8-2 at the semi-final stage .They will meet Bramley D in the final.
Members are reminded of the Presentation Evening on Friday June 8th at the Merrow club.
