GTTL PRESS REPORT WEEK 23
Mid-term in the Guildford Table Tennis League saw one of the outstanding matches of the season between Merrow A and B in the Premier Division. Superb table craft was shown throughout the evening at the Merrow Village club. The undoubted highlight was a thrilling counter hitting affair between John Robinson and Richard Seymour won in five sets by Robinson who went on to win all his singles Those present remarked that it was probably one of the finest games ever played in the Associations history. The high standard continued with Andy Appleby gaining a very credible victory over Jason Tendler and Martin Townshend getting a pair. The doubles produced a real surprise with Graham Faulkner- who for once lost all his singles -and Seymour taking revenge with a three set win over Robinson and Tendler 9,1and 12. The A’s retained bragging rights with a 6-4 win at evenings end.
