The top two in the Second Division met with College Hill C taking the 100% record of Godalming F, 6-4. Derek Hubbard starred for College Hill with a maximum whilst Jamie Felton won a couple in a match in which every player tasted success over the evening. Abinger A maintained their 100% record with an 8-2 success against Aftermath D. Mike Hughes and Brendan Bayley were both unbeaten. Bramley B overcame Aftermath C 7-3. Steve Cheeseman picked up a trio for Bramley with team-mate Joe Melchionno bagging a brace as did Aftermath’s Martin Strutt. Woking LTC A edged past Merrow F 6-4 thanks to doubles from Daniel Koenigsberger and Michael Glen. Tim Ngyou won twice for Merrow. Cranleigh beat Merrow G 7-3 with Angela Coventry winning all three. She was ably supported by Peter Coventry and Brian Amos though both lost to Merrow’s James Selby.
In the First Division Ash B tasted success for the first time this campaign when they edged past Godalming E 6-4. Carsten Horne was undefeated for Godalming with pairs from the Ash duo of Chris Dury and Paul Rumble. Aftermath B beat College Hill B 7-3 with Trevor Sanders unbeaten and colleague Steve Cheek winning twice. Adrian Sharp secured a duo for College Hill. Bramley A beat Aftermath A 6-4 with Geoff Nevitt leading the way with a trio. Simon Turner and Steve Pearce each won twice for Aftermath.
Godalming H picked up an impressive 8-2 success against College Hill E in the Third Division. Fred Florance led the way with a full house whilst Shula Laws and Chris King both won twice each losing out to College Hill’s Melvin Rose. Bramley C and D shared the spoils. No player was unbeaten with duos from Alan Osgood and Kim Farminer for the C team and Gary Smith and David Barraclough matching this for the D squad. Aftermath E and College Hill D also split the points. The star player of the evening was College Hill’s Dave Partridge with the Aftermath pair of John Setterfield and Dave Thomas bagging braces. Yet another draw was played between Godalming J and L. Matheus Brocardo secured a maximum for the J team with Henry Russell and Zsolt Podolyak winning twice apiece for the L team. Burymead D eased past Godalming K 6-4. All the Burymead squad, Gordon Aplin, Richard Green and Richard Penton won twice as did Godalming’s Paul Fenton.
