The Premier Cup competition, the Percy Lawes Cup, started with Godalming A entertaining Merrow C in a match that also doubled up as a league fixture. Godalming won the match 9-1 with Adam Laws and Federico Vitterbo unbeaten and team-mate Rob Poutney winning a couple. In the other Percy Lawes match Merrow A easily beat Burymead A 5-1 with both John Robinson and Jason Tendler undefeated
The Intermediate Cup produced a 5-0 whitewash for Bramley A against Godalming E. Peter Palmer, Geoff Nevitt and Nick Gould were the victorious trio. The match between Merrow D and E was much tighter with the D team winning 5-4. Scott Ayers and John Grant each won twice for the D team as did the E team’s Nigel Oh.
In the Lewis Cup Aftermath C swept past Cranleigh 6-2. James Sellen was unbeaten for Aftermath with colleague Dave Harden winning twice. Peter Coventry won the two for Cranleigh. Bramley D proved too strong for Merrow G winning 5-1. Both Linda Makepeace and Steve Cheeseman avoided defeat
Aftermath E started their cup campaign in the Last Two Cup with an emphatic 7-2 win over Ash C. John Setterfield was unbeaten for Aftermath with both Alan Sherwin and Dave Thomas winning a couple in support. Both lost to Ash’s Sheila Pretty. Bramley D eased past Godalming H 5-3 with no player unbeaten on the evening. Dave Phillips and Gary Nicholson both won twice for Bramley as did Godalming’s Fred Florance. Godalming K beat Challoner C 7-2. Paul Fenton secured a trio with colleagues Charlie Verschoyle and Richard Naylor both winning twice.
In the Bob Hammond Trophy Emmanuel TTC proved too strong for Bramley E winning 6-3 although Bramley’s David Barraclough was unbeaten. Stephen Schofield, Keith Brown and Stephen Bridle all won twice for Emmanuel. Cody B breezed past Godalming M 7-1. Kim Phillips and Ken Thompson were both undefeated for Cody.
