A rare, if not unique, occurrence took place in the Third Division when College Hill D’s Steve Clement came back from 10-0 down to take a set off Bramley D’s Dave Phillips. Phillips, however, had the last laugh winning in five sets. This was part of a draw with College Hill’s Dave Partridge unbeaten and the Bramley pair of Phillips and Gary Nicholson each winning twice. Bramley C is edging up the table after a 6-4 victory over College Hill E. Kim Farminer recorded a maximum with the College Hill pair of Peter Norman and Dan Woods each winning twice.
In the Premier Division Burymead B inflicted the first defeat of the season on College Hill A. Chris Bush secured a full house with team-mates Richard Tanner and Tim Goodship both bagging braces but both lost to College Hill’s Rory Scott. Godalming A whitewashed their B team with Adam Laws, Federico Vitterbo and Rob Poutney. The first clash between the two sides destined for first and second is Halloween Night at Burymead.
Challoner C moved to the top of the table in the Fourth Division when they overwhelmed, previously undefeated, Abinger B 9-1. Ken Lemon and Chris Ray each picked up trios whilst Alan Cumper won a couple. Godalming R and Cody B split the points with Ty Tyson winning all three for Godalming and Alan Richards and Kim Phillips twice successful for Cody.
In the First Division Aftermath A secured their initial win of the season, 6-4, against Ash B. Simon Turner was unbeaten for Aftermath with colleague Steve Pearce winning a couple as did Ash’s Paul Rumble. Bramley A and Challoner B maintained their undefeated start to the season, sharing the points. No player was unbeaten with duos for Geoff Nevitt and Nick Gould for Bramley and Steve Collins and Crispian Knight for Challoner.
In the Second Division Cranleigh retained their 100% record with a 7-3 victory over Aftermath D. Peter Coventry won all three for Cranleigh with team-mates Angela Coventry and Brian Amos twice victorious, both losing to Aftermath’s Alan Webb. Abinger A also boast a winning record after a narrow 6-4 success over Woking LTC A. Mike Hughes was unbeaten for Abinger with colleague Brendan Bayley winning a couple as did Woking’s Mike Glen.
