The defending champions, Godalming A, opened their campaign with a convincing 8-2 success against Broadmoor. Michael Chan and Andreas Pusch both notched maximums for Godalming. Aftermath A, appearing in the Premier Division for the first time for many years, lost 7-3 to Merrow C for whom newcomer, Chris Hazlehurst picked up a trio and Nick Mills and Martin Townshend a brace apiece. Merrow A defeated a two-man Burymead A outfit 7-3. John Robinson and Koray Ozcan were unbeaten for Merrow.
In the First Division the experienced Challoner B side demonstrated why they are one of the favourites for promotion with a whitewash of Godalming C. Crispian Knight, Steve Collins and Sally Cimiotti inflicted the damage. Woking LTC A slugged out a draw with Cody A. No player was undefeated with John Koenigsberger for Woking and Dave Stenning and Kin Chan for Cody notching up pairs.
In the Second Division Aftermath B put the disappointment of relegation behind them with a convincing 9-1 win over Godalming E. Frank Roberts and Bill Matlock were unbeaten whilst Gordon Aplin only lost out to Dean Robertson. Newly promoted Cranleigh A suffered a close 6-4 defeat against Merrow G. Mark Lockyer and Angela Coventry each won twice for Cranleigh with this being matched by Alan Wan and Simon Dickinson for Merrow. The first battle of the Bramleys in this division saw the B team edge out the D team 6-4. Linda Makepeace was unbeatable for the B team with duos being recorded for Joe Melchionno for the B team and Geoff Nevitt for the D team. The Bramley C team somehow managed to conjure a 6-4 win over Aftermath D with only two players. Steve Cheeseman notched up a maximum with Paul brook winning twice. Aftermath C convincingly got the better of Allianz 8-2. Dave Wilson and Martin Strutt were unbeaten.
In the Third Division Aftermath E and Merrow H shared the points in a match that may well feature two of the contenders for promotion this season. David Harden and Peter Millie each won twice for Aftermath as did Paul Farrant for Merrow. College Hill C started with a 7-3 win over Bramley E. John Bounds was unbeaten for College Hill with Mike Caudrey and Steve Clement each winning twice but both beaten by Paul Kim. Godalming G notched a 6-4 win over Challoner D. Ken Lemon picked up a trio for the losers with Ben tahouri and Peter Cousins each winning twice for Godalming.
In the Fourth Division College Hill D started with a 6-4 win over Cranleigh C. Paul Tanton secured three wins with Richard Johnston getting a brace for College Hill. John Marrow won twice for Cranleigh. Bramley G started the campaign with a 9-1 win over Godalming J. Mike Smith and Pam Wells were unbeaten with Alan Howling only losing out to 15 year old newcomer Jason Wood. Woking LTC C, who narrowly lost out on promotion last season, started this campaign with an 8-2 win over Burymead E. Alex Bolychevsky won three for Woking but both Mike Glen and Sue Holder lost out to Eddie Hounslow.
