Whilst marvelling at the fantastic table tennis served up by the top players it is easy to forget that there needs to be a pyramid for the talent to develop. So results in the Fourth Division are, for those players, equally important and this week Bramley F notched up their first success, against Godalming J. Kim Taylor, Assad Minoo and Den Hall each secured braces but none of them could get the better of Sajiv Swamy a newcomer to the league. At the top of the division a two-man Woking LTC C side comprising Alex Bolychevsky and Mike Glen won all the available games against Godalming H.
In the Second Division Aftermath D picked up their first win of the season thanks to a 7-3 success over Allianz. Dave Thomas was unbeaten for Aftermath with Alan Sherwin notching a pair. Aftermath C maintained their promotion push with a narrow 6-4 success over Burymead D. Dave Wilson notched a full house for Aftermath with Martin Strutt contributing a couple which was matched by Jack Harrington for Burymead.
At the top of the Premier Division Merrow A lost their 100% record managing to only draw against their C team. Jason Tendler was on fire for the C team with a maximum whilst Hari Gehlot picked up a duo. For the A team John Robinson only lost out to Tendler. Burymead A did not languish in the bottom two for long moving away from the relegation zone with an emphatic 9-1 victory over Merrow B. Phil Snelson and Derek Holman were unbeaten whilst Gordon Holmes only lost out to Bipin Majithia. Burymead C maintained their excellent start to the season by overcoming Broadmoor pushing them towards the relegation zone. Richard Parke was unbeaten for Burymead with Steve Duggan and Tony Needham only losing out to Barry Gilbert.
Godalming D inflicted on Bramley A their first defeat in the First Division. Ashish Jaiswal was unbeaten for Godalming in a 6-4 win with Nick Gould and Peter Palmer each winning twice for Bramley. Two newcomers for Godalming, Rob Shearman and Alan Hoyle, each won one apiece. At the top of the table Ash A maintained their 100% start to the season with an 8-2 defeat of Woking LTC B. John Taylor was unbeaten for Ash with Paul Myers and Paul Massey each only succumbing to Kevin Bown.
In the Third Division Challoner D cemented their promotion credentials with a 7-3 win over Ash B. Jason Gee went the evening unbeaten with Tom Taylor-Woodward notching a pair. Dave Bentall matched that for Ash. College Hill C remain at the top after a narrow 6-4 success over Godalming F. Brian Smithers, for College Hill, recorded a trio whilst Frank Li won twice for Godalming. Bramley E could well be the surprise packet in the division with a 6-4 win over Aftermath E testament to their competitiveness. Paul Kim and Bob Holmden notched braces for Bramley with David Harden and Richard Tapp equally successful for Aftermath.
