Bramley A reached the final of the Intermediate Cup after a 5-2 success over Cody A. Nick Gould was the Bramley hero being unbeaten and winning the decisive seventh game.
In the Premier Division Burymead B will be declared champions in a couple of weeks. Helped along by a whitewash of Challoner A they are only a handful of points away from retaining the title. On this occasion Chris Bush, Richard Tanner and Michael Hill won the points for Burymead. This defeat drags Challoner towards the bottom of the table where Godalming C will be content with their draw against Broadmoor. Steve Davis won twice for Godalming as did Dave Phelps and Mark Handcock for Broadmoor.
Ash D is the form side of the Third division witnessed by a narrow win, 6-4, over champions elect of the division Godalming G. James Wyncoll was unbeaten for Godalming whilst David Mackinnon and Hudson Foley bagged braces for Ash. Woking LTC C remain second in the table after a 7-3 defeat of Aftermath E. Mike Frean recorded yet another full house and Mike Glen chipped in with a duo for Woking whilst Richard Tapp won a couple for Aftermath. College Hill D’s promotion aspirations were dented after sharing the points with Merrow F. Steve Clement won all his three for College Hill with Ashley Barnes and John Upham each winning twice for Merrow.
Bramley E, in the Fourth Division, continue to make a strong challenge for promotion beating another of the promotion contenders, Woking LTC D, 8-2. Dave Barraclough was unbeaten for Bramley with Stephen Pinn and Gary Nicholson each winning twice both losing to Malcolm Hollett. College Hill E bounced back from last week’s setback with a whitewash of Godalming N. Peter Norman, Paul Stock and Colin Thompson grabbing the points for the Brook based outfit who still remain promotion favourites. Champions elect, however, of this division is Godalming K who whitewashed Burymead E. Tim Boxall, Roger Aspital and Ram Sethi grabbing the points.
In the Second Division Bramley C maintained the league’s only unbeaten record with a 7-3 success over their B team. Kerry East, Phil Thompson and Geoff Nevitt each won twice for the C team with Linda Makepeace matching that for the B team. Merrow E continued with their promotion push beating Aftermath D, 9-1. Simon Dickinson and Ce Guo both picked up maximums whilst Trevor Free just lost out to John Setterfield. The only other promotion contender is Godalming F who kept up the pressure with an 8-2 defeat of Cranleigh A. Gordon Grover won all his three whilst Danny McGranaghan and James Wyncoll picked up a pair apiece. At the other end of the table Burymead D will be pleased with their draw against College Hill C. Jack Harrington, yet again, was the Burymead hero with a full house whilst Mike Caudrey and Jim Clement won twice apiece for College Hill.
In the First Division Ash A maintained their promotion push with an 8-2 success over Bramley A. Paul Myers was unbeaten for Ash with Eliot Tilley and George Earle grabbing duos but both losing to Nick Gould. Godalming D, who have personnel problems, managed a draw with Merrow D to keep in touch in the promotion battle. Christophe Pietrek was unbeaten for Godalming with John Grant and Shaun Newbold bagging braces for Merrow.
