Champions Burymead B opened their campaign with a 7-3 win over Merrow C. Matt Pernet led the way for Burymead with a full house and Michael Hill chipped in with a pair. The losers paraded Wallace Mahaffy a new player to the league and he won twice. Merrow A started with a 6-4 success over Broadmoor. Koray Ozcan proved unbeatable and John Robinson won twice as did Gary Bonner for Broadmoor. Challoner B and Godalming B fought out a draw in their opening league encounter. Graham Watts picked up a trio for Challoner with Trevor Spraggs winning twice. Keith Falconer managed a duo for Godalming. Godalming B were less successful in their second match being whitewashed by their A team. Merrow B put their club-mates, the D team in their place with an 8-2 thrashing. Richard Seymour with three and Graham Faulkner and Bipin Majithia with two were the scorers for Merrow B.
College Hill B made their debut in the First Division and recorded a 7-3 success over Godalming C. Phil Harrison, Graham Nutting and Adrian Sharp all won twice but none of them could overcome Yawei Wang who was unbeaten for Godalming. Merrow F also recorded an 8-2 victory – over Challoner C. Keith Cunningham was the unbeaten Merrow player with Robin Street and Phil Hales only losing out to Martin Rozario. Merrow F then shared the points with Godalming C, on this occasion Hales was unbeaten with Street winning twice. Wang picked up another two wins.
In the Second Division Bramley C and Merrow G shared the spoils. Steve Cheeseman was unbeaten for Bramley with Ce Guo notching a pair for Merrow. They then repeated this against Ash B. On this occasion Cheeseman was only beaten by Jackie Rice for Ash. Paul Brook also won twice for Bramley
In the Third Division Cody B entertained College Hill C in the first match of the season and College Hill got off to a flyer with an 8-2 success. Mark Smith and Mike Caudrey each notched up full houses. Meanwhile two potential promotion contenders, Challoner D and Godalming E split the points. Tom Taylor-Woodward demonstrated again why he will be a good scalp in this division by picking up a trio but Jason Minoo and Fred Florance managed pairs for Godalming. Godalming E then followed up with an 8-2 win over their F team. Shula Laws was the star on this occasion with a full house ably supported by Minoo and Florance with pairs. Alan Lewell won twice for the F team
In the Fourth Division Merrow K, a new team, lost out 7-3 to Woking LTC D. Merrow had the star performer, however, in David Bryan who won all his singles. Alexei Kolosov, Mervyn Newell and Malcolm Hollett won their remaining sets for Woking.
Godalming G entertained their H team with the H team coming through 7-3. Paul Herbert was unbeaten for the H team with Dom Carpenter pitching in with a duo. This was matched by A.Jeffreys for the losers.
