My pre-season prediction that the Fourth Division would be won by Bramley E is seriously being challenged by Godalming H who maintained their 100% start to the season with a whitewash of Cranleigh B. Paul Herbert, Dom Carpenter and John Upham is now the settled side and they look hard to get points off. Woking LTC C lost their own 100% record with a draw against Godalming J. Mike Glen with a trio and Alex Bolychevsky with a brace secured the points for Woking with Tony Laws contributing a pair for Godalming. By contrast Woking LTC D got all ten against Godalming G. Alexey Kolosov, Mervyn Newell and Malcolm Hollett were the unbeaten players for Woking. Cranleigh C picked up a good 7-3 win against Burymead E. John Marrow and Chris Ray won all the points for Cranleigh.
In the Second Division Woking LTC B lost their unbeaten record against Godalming D. Godalming triumphed 8-2 with Fei Fei Pei and Michael Kwan unbeaten. Richard Carpenter and Owen Poelijoe each beat Tony Harrild to gain Woking’s points. In the division of draws Allianz and Bramley D fought out another one. Clayton Green was unbeaten for Allianz whilst John Diggens and Geoff Nevitt picked up braces for Bramley. Aftermath C used Woking’s defeat to close the gap on them with a 7-3 success over Burymead D. Dave Wilson was unbeaten for Aftermath with Martin Strutt and Ian Deswarte securing pairs.
In the First Division Challoner C eased off the bottom with a 7-3 win over their relegation rivals, Aftermath B. Martin Rozario was the hat-trick star for Challoner with Sally Cimiotti picking up a brace. Burymead C edged towards the promotion race with an 8-2 victory over Godalming C. Dave Halfpenny won thrice with Ian Farley and Mark Batt-Rawden only lost out to Yawei Wang. Woking LTC A are also moving towards the top after a 7-3 result over Merrow E. Brian Hartles won all his games with John Koenigsberger getting a pair for the winners, John Taylor won twice for Merrow.
Some big scores in the Third Division with Aftermath D, in the form of John Setterfield, Alan Sherwin and Dave Thomas, whitewashing Abinger and this was matched by Cranleigh A against Merrow J. The victorious trio being Angela Coventry, Mark Lockyer and Chris Ray. Only slightly less emphatic was the 9-1 win for Aftermath E against Cody B. Richard Tapp and Gary Adkins were unbeaten with only Peter Millie losing to Ken Thompson. The result firmly anchors Cody to the bottom of the table.
In the Premier Division Godalming A’s attempt to wrest the title from Burymead B continues apace after a 9-1 win over Merrow D. Michael Chan and Andreas Pusch were unbeaten whilst newcomer, Ashash Jairwal won twice.
