Congratulations to Aftermath B in the First Division who notched up their first success, 8-2, at the ninth attempt against Godalming C. The hero for one of the relegation favourites was Bill Matlock with a full house whilst James Sellen and Gordon Aplin only lost to Yawei Wang. Meanwhile at the top of the table the clash between first and second was won by Aftermath A 6-4 against College Hill B. Steve Pearce was unbeaten for Aftermath whilst Albert Cheung won twice which was matched by Phil Harrison for the losers. Merrow F eased up the table with a 6-4 success against Cody A. Robin Street secured a trio whilst Peter Anthony notched a brace for Cody.
Godalming B, in the Premier Division, also picked up their first win, 6-4 against Broadmoor. All three of their team, Sara Horsnell, Richie Bolton and Keith Falconer won twice, Phil Richardson managed the same for Broadmoor. Merrow C whitewashed Ash A to move away from the bottom end of the table. Graham Diplock, Jason Tendler and Dennis Perrett did the damage. Merrow A and B met and the result was a draw which leaves them locked together in mid-table. Koray Ozcan for the A team was unbeaten whilst Richard Seymour and Graham Faulkner picked up pairs for the B team.
There have been some significant results at the top of the Fourth Division. Godalming H asserted their grip on the division with a 6-4 win over Woking LTC C. Dom Carpenter was the hat-trick hero for Godalming with Paul Herbert picking up two wins. Michael Glen won twice for the tennis club. Meanwhile Merrow K took away Bramley E’s 100% record with a draw. New signing Dong Ming Lau was unbeaten for Merrow with fellow newcomer Dean Robertson winning twice. Bob Holmden picked up a brace for Bramley. Woking LTC D moved up the table after an 8-2 win over Cranleigh B. Alexei Kolosov and Malcolm Hollett were unbeaten whilst Mark Harding only lost out to Blue Porter.
The Second Division continues to serve up close matches. A draw was fought out between Aftermath C and Bramley C. Paul Brook, for Bramley, won a trio whilst Dave Wilson and Martin Strutt tasted success twice. Bramley B eased past Allianz, 6-4, with Linda Makepeace winning thrice. Steve Simnett and Clayton Green picked up two apiece for Allianz. Woking LTC B also won 6-4, against Ash B. Nobody was unbeaten with Ahmad Matoorian and Owen Poelijoe for Woking and Karim Lawji and Sandy Simpson for Ash all winning twice. Bramley D kept the close scores coming with a 6-4 win over Burymead D. Geoff Nevitt won all his matches for Bramley whilst Gordon Mitchell and Jack Harrington each won pairs for Burymead.
All teams are reminded that any postponed matches from the first half of the season have to be played before the commencement of the second half of the season.
