As last season it appears, at this stage of the season, that they will be a large spread in the Second Division. One of the teams likely to be featuring at the bottom end of the table is Allianz who will be very grateful for a draw against Godalming E. Peter Chasmer and Clayton Green each won twice for Allianz and this was matched by Jason Minoo and Dominic Carpenter. Merrow G secured their second 6-4 win – this against Aftermath D. Simon Dickinson was unbeaten for Merrow with Paul Farrant picking up a brace. Dave Thomas won twice for the losers. At the top Aftermath B continued their march to promotion with a 9-1 win over winless Cranleigh A. Gordon Aplin and Bill Matlock were unbeaten with Cranleigh’s only success coming for Angela Coventry against Frank Roberts. Burymead D, who have been perennial strugglers in this division, have started with two victories. The latest was a narrow 6-4 win over Bramley D. Kerry East was the unbeaten star for Bramley with Gordon Mitchell and Jack Harrington each winning twice for Burymead.
In the Fourth Division Cranleigh C recorded an 8-2 win over Godalming J. Godalming fielded an ineligible player which assisted Cranleigh, who had Russell Amer unbeaten. David Livingstone won twice for Godalming. Godalming H recorded their first win of the season, 6-4, against their K team. Tony Laws won all his matches for the K team.
In the Premier Division Challoner A and Merrow A look, at this stage of the season, to be battling for the honour of second place. They recently met with Merrow recording a narrow 6-4 win. John Robinson, who has started the season very well, was unbeaten for Merrow with Koray Ozcan notching a couple. Graham Watts won twice for Challoner. Wins for Burymead C may well be few so an 8-2 success over relegation favourites, Aftermath A, was very gratefully recorded. Richard Parke was unbeaten for Burymead with Ian Farley and Joel Clancy chipping in with braces. Albert Cheung won twice for Aftermath. Broadmoor registered their first win of the season with a 6-4 win over Merrow B. Merrow had the star performer in Richard Seymour who was unbeaten with Barrie Gilbert and Gary Bonner winning twice for Broadmoor.
In the First Division Godalming C picked up their first win with a 6-4 defeat of Merrow E. Yawei Wang was unbeaten for Godalming with Carsten Horne winning twice. Robin Street picked up a brace for Merrow. College Hill B and Cody A shared the points with Paul Creamer, for College Hill, the player with the maximum. Peter Anthony won twice for Cody.
In the Third Division Bramley E beat Godalming G 7-3 with Paul Kim unbeaten and Bob Holmden winning a couple. Dean Robertson won twice for Godalming. Aftermath E, after two draws, beat Ash B 8-2 and edged to the top of the table. David Harden was unbeaten with Peter Millie and Richard Tapp each winning twice but neither able to get the better of Clive Mattin.
