Cranleigh A, in the Second Division, have experienced a depressing start to their campaign but the mood was lightened with their first success, 6-4, against Godalming E. Mark Lockyer was the Cranleigh hero with a full house whilst Angela Coventry chipped in with a brace this being matched by Mike May for the losing team. By contrast Merrow G suffered their first defeat by the staggering score of 10-0 against Bramley D. Geoff Nevitt, Kerry East and John Diggens inflicting the suffering. Also suffering their first defeat were Burymead D who went down 6-4 to Bramley C. Geoff Nevitt again picked up a full house whilst guesting for the C team with Steve Cheeseman managing a brace. Jack Harrington won twice for Burymead.
In the First Division College Hill B got their first success of the season, a 7-3 win over Woking LTC B. Andy Clegg and Martin Sharp were unbeaten for College Hill. After two draws Cody A suffered their first defeat, from Challoner C, 8-2. Martin Rozario and Sally Cimiotti both picked up trios for Challoner who may well feature in the promotion race. Another team that will definitely feature is Bramley A. A very solid 7-3 success over Woking LTC A demonstrating their credentials. Peter Palmer with a trio led the way with Tony Morse picking up a brace matched by John Koenigsberger for the opposition.
In the Fourth Division College Hill D appear to be the team to beat. They maintained their 100% record with a 7-3 win over Woking LTC D. Young Peter Caudrey led the way with a full house whilst Peter Norman won a pair unable to get the better of Alexey Kolosov who won twice for Woking. Godalming K inflicted the first defeat on Cranleigh B, 6-4, with Tony Laws unbeaten for Godalming. John Davies and Chris Ray each won twice for Cranleigh.
In the Third Division Bramley E will not be struggling after promotion. The arrival of Paul Kim should ensure that. He picked up another full house in the 8-2 win over Cody B and with Bob Holmden and David Barraclough each winning twice the season looks much brighter than their last visit to this division. The same cannot be said for Cody for whom Stuart Stone won twice but they are already red hot favourites for the drop.
New names keep arriving in the top flight on a regular basis and Burymead C appear to have recruited well after promotion. A 7-3 win over Godalming B featured a maximum from Steve Duggan with a couple from Steve Hunt. Keith falconer won twice for Godalming. After a couple of lean years Merrow A appear to be a real force again and will be challenging for the title. A 9-1 win over Aftermath A propelling them to the top of the table. John Robinson and Mike Fisher were unbeaten with Martin Townshend securing a brace. Also likely to be in the fight at the top is Challoner A. A solid 7-3 win over Broadmoor maintaining their good start to the season. Graham Watts proved to be the best player on the evening with a hatrick but he was well supported by Rob Lemon with a couple. Mark Handcock won twice for the Berkshire outfit.
